形态描述:株高1.5米;茎粗壮,紫红色,被蜡质白粉,有很密集的叶。叶片卵形或卵状长圆形,最大的长达50厘米,宽达20厘米,顶端渐尖,基部心形,暗绿色,边绿、叶脉多少染紫或古铜色。总状花序长15厘米,超出于叶之上;苞片紫色,卵形,多少内凹,略超出于子房之上,被天蓝色粉霜,无小苞片;萼片披针形,急尖,紫色,长1.2-1.5厘米或过之;花冠裂片披针形,长4-5厘米,深红色,外稍染蓝色,顶端内凹;外轮退化雄蕊2枚,倒披针形,背面的1枚长约5.5厘米,宽8-9毫米,红染紫,侧面的1枚长4厘米,宽4-5毫米,分离几达基部;唇瓣舌状或线状长圆形,顶端微凹或2裂,弯曲,红色;发育雄蕊披针形,浅褐色,急尖,较花药室略长;子房梨形,深红色,密被小疣状突起。花柱线形,较药室为长。果熟时黑色。花期:秋。
